FAQ
Do I need to donate in order to shop?
No. Donations are welcome, but never required. The Exchange operates on a pay-what-you-can model. You’re welcome to browse and contribute in a way that feels sustainable for you.
How does “pay-what-you-can” work?
There are no fixed prices. Take what you’ll use and contribute what you’re able. Some give more. Some give less. It balances over time and helps keep materials accessible to everyone.
Is Hen’s Art Supply Exchange a nonprofit?
No. We are a community-supported project and not a registered nonprofit. We are unable to provide tax documentation for donations.
Can I just drop off donations anytime?
No. Donations are accepted during scheduled drop-off times or by appointment. If you have a large donation, please contact us in advance with photos and an approximate quantity so we can prepare.
What condition should donated items be in?
Items should be clean, usable, and safe. Paint should not be dried or moldy. Liquids must be sealed and labeled. Sharp tools should be wrapped. We reserve the right to decline items that don’t meet safety or usability standards.
Can I donate supplies from a loved one’s estate?
Yes. We are honored to help give materials a second life. If you are coordinating a larger donation, please reach out so we can arrange a time and make the process smooth.
Are children allowed to visit?
Because we are a working studio environment, children must be supervised at all times. Some materials and tools may not be suitable for young visitors.
Where are you located?
Hen’s Art Supply Exchange operates within JuxtaHub. Visits are by appointment Tuesday through Friday, and during select public events.
Do you resell items for profit?
No. Materials remain within the Exchange to support artists, students, and educators. The goal is circulation, not resale outside the community.
What if I’m not sure whether something is acceptable to donate?
Send us a message. We’re happy to help you decide.
